Yakima bike racks

Yakima Bike Racks will absolutely complete your adventurous outdoor
lifestyle. Whether you are thinking of purchasing the Yakima Fork Lift, Spare-time, High-roller Upright Bike Mount, or the Hold-up Bike Rack you have arrive at the perfect place to find out which will work best for you.

Yakima Fork Lift: Great buy, beware where you purchase it!

Yakima Fork LiftThe Yakima Fork Lift Bike carrier retails for about $130. The feature that I hands down could not live without was its versatility. Not only will the rack mount onto factory and aftermarket cross, square, or round cross bars but it also easily mounted onto my Subaru's factory bars. The skewer-mechanism also tightens and locks effortlessly with one hand giving you the ability to hold your bike steady with your free hand.

The drawback of the Yakima Fork Lift Bike rack was the time it took adjusting the multi-positional clamps. The cross bars are curved which causes the bikes to tilt outward, although the crossbar is secure. The parts may also be defective, in my experience one the locking skewer's plastic red coverings came out. As a result it rendered the mechanism for locking utterly useless. Although the skewer may be locked, with not covering anyone with pliers has the ability to remove the bicycle. Lastly, while attempting to resolve the previously stated issues, I found that although has a lifetime warranty, they will not fix warranty issues for products purchased through Amazon.com. Similarly Amazon.com will not resolve warranty services for Yakima parts.

Yakima Sparetime: Great buy, will not fit some 5-lug hole patterns

Yakima SparetimeThe Yakima Sparetime rack mounts onto your vehicle using the same point as the spare-tire. Retailing for about $150, the Sparetime includes extra tie downs which extend beyond the framing of the vehicle to reduce swinging by the bicycle. The rack also has a knob that tightens to ensure the rack can't be removed. The drawback of the Sparetime is that partial or complete view of the rear window may be blocked or compromised, regardless of whether the bicycle is mounted. Also Yakima has warned consumers against driving off road with loaded bikes while using the Sparetime rack. I recommend that anyone that may use wheels with a 5-lug hole pattern similar to that of a 1995 Suzuki not use this particular rack.

Yakima HighRoller Upright Bike Mount: Great buy, but will need additional housing locks

Yakima HighRollerThe Yakima High Roller Upright Bike Mount retails for about $180, and is Yakima's costliest bike rack. Similar to other Yakima bike racks the Yakima High Roller Upright Bike Mount is easily installable. The lockdown of the rack can be done in a moment's time. The feature that I enjoyed most was the fact that even at speeds of up to 90 mph the bicycle held steady. The drawback of the Yakima High Roller Upright Bike Mount is the rack does not lock onto to rack on the roof. It its current condition, anyone has the ability to take both the bike and rack without much effort.

Yakima Hold-Up Bike Rack: Great buy, buy use additional tie down or bungee straps to reinforce anchoring

Yakima Hold-Up Bike RackThe Yakima Hold-Up Bike Mount with Locking Cable retails for about $455. The Hold-Up Bike Mount locks the front tire which makes your bicycle sit level despite the shape of your framing. Your bike's tire has to have the ability to hold the recommended air pressure specifically for your tire brand to ensure that everything remains secure. The rack is extremely heavy, which assures that the mount and bike remain at elevated speeds and higher winds. Mounting the bike takes a moment's time. However, the mount will slightly wiggle as you drive.

Yakima bike racksThe drawback of the Yakima Hold-Up Bike Mount with Locking Cable is that while driving at about 70 mph the tie down strap that held the rear tire broke. I did not realize that the bike was missing until I stopped later. Needless to say my specialized bike is long gone. I would recommend using additional tie down straps or bungee cords to anchor the bike in case the plastic straps that are included break.

Yakima bike racks have an established reputation for being dependable, quality products that are available at reasonable prices. With several options to choose from, Yakima bike racks will always deliver products to make your ever outdoor experience adventurous.
